I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road Safety Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Good Afternoon,
I just wanted to update you in relation to some recent operations we have been undertaking.
Last week, we did a road safety operation in Brierfield, which went on from morning until the night.
Several officers from the neighbourhood team, our road traffic team and task force were involved in stopping vehicles all day, along with several speed check sites.
Throughout the day, we seized four vehicles for no insurance, dealt with speeding drivers and also arrested three people on suspicion of dealing drugs from our proactive stops.
I know that speeding and dangerous drivers are one of the most brought up issues to us and we will continue to keep on doing these operations.
In other news-
Another massive issue that is reported to us are people riding illegal electric motorbikes as such as surrons around Pendle, often dangerously and with no consideration for other road users or pedestrians.
On Sunday, myself and PC Burrow went into plain clothes and a plain vehicle across Pendle and managed to forcefully take an illegal bike off a person wearing a balacalva who was trying to escape us. This bodycam footage can be watched on the Nelson and Brierfield Facebook page.
We will also continue to do these undercover operations to help us in tackling the illegal use of these motorbikes that often put the public at massive risk.
